Welcome to NET WORTH Tennis Ladder! These rules ensure fair play and an enjoyable experience for all participants. By joining the ladder, you agree to follow these guidelines.
Ladder Format
The NET WORTH Tennis Ladder is a year-round competitive ranking system for tennis players in East Los Angeles. Players are ranked based on their match performance, with the goal of climbing the ladder through competitive play.
How the Ladder Works
🎾Rankings
- Players are ranked from #1 (highest) to the bottom of the ladder
- New players start at the bottom of the ladder
- Rankings are updated after each completed match
- Your position is determined by your win-loss record and strength of schedule
🏆Challenging
- You may challenge players ranked up to 3 positions above you
- Players must accept challenges within 7 days
- If a challenge is not accepted within 7 days, the challenger may move up one position
- You may have up to 2 pending challenges at a time
📅Scheduling Matches
- Players must mutually agree on a date, time, and location within 14 days of accepting a challenge
- Matches should be played at public courts in East Los Angeles (see court locations on the main ladder page)
- Both players are responsible for bringing tennis balls
- If players cannot agree on a time/location within 14 days, the match is voided
Match Rules
🎯Format
- Matches are best 2 out of 3 sets
- Standard USTA rules apply
- Sets are played to 6 games with a tiebreaker at 6-6
- No-ad scoring is recommended to keep matches moving
⚖️Scoring & Reporting
- Both players must agree on the final score
- The winner is responsible for reporting the score via email to matches@networthtennis.com
- Scores must be reported within 48 hours of match completion
- Disputed scores will be reviewed by the ladder administrator
🚫Cancellations & No-Shows
- If you need to cancel, provide at least 24 hours notice
- Players are allowed 1 last-minute cancellation per month
- No-shows result in an automatic forfeit
- Repeated no-shows or cancellations may result in suspension from the ladder
Ranking Changes
When you win a challenge match:
- You move up to the position of the player you defeated
- The defeated player moves down one position
- All players in between shift down one position
Sportsmanship
Expected Conduct: All players are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship, fair play, and respect for opponents. Unsportsmanlike conduct, including verbal abuse, cheating, or disrespectful behavior, will not be tolerated and may result in suspension or removal from the ladder.
